Mike The Knight toys (review)
If you've not heard of it before Mike The Knight is an animated TV series on CBeebies. Mike is a young knight-in-training in the medieval Kingdom of Glendragon. Each episode shows a fantasy world full of adventure, dragons, castles, trolls and more.
Ever since it was first shown on CBeebies my children have been big fans, especially Middle as he loves anything to do with knights and castles (and it was conveniently his study topic at school last term!)
With that in mind, I just knew that he would be ecstatic when we were offered the chance to review part of the new Mike The Knight toy range before it hit the shelves.
The range includes the Mike's Mission Set, which consists of a helmet & sword, Glendragon Deluxe Playset, Hairy Harry's Horse Stop, Glendragon Arena, and a Viking Longboat- all your child could need to recreate favourite scenes from the show. Check out the Character Online website here for more details.
Middle was sent the Mike's Mission Set. Perfect for his role-playing as Sir Middle!
Despite being a foam sword it is of much better quality and strength than previous swords we've owned in the past. They haven't lasted 5 minutes with the aggressive swordfighting my eldest two seem to enjoy so much. The helmet is made of very sturdy plastic and has a moveable visor for protection during those daring swordfights! It has a chin strap so it fixes well to the wearer. The recommended age is 3-5 years and although Middle is 5 there is plenty of room for growth for him so it will definitely last a long time.
The RRP for Mike's Mission Set is £14.99 which I think is great value. Only last year Middle bought a flimsy (now broken) foam sword and shield for £17 and if you wanted the matching foam helmet it would set you back another tenner. For under £15 you get a product that is much longer-lasting and in my opinion it's a really great product for your Knights-in-training. As Mike says "Be a Knight, do it right"!
The Mike The Knight toy range will be available in shops from this weekend (5th/6th May 2012)
