After spending all week in an office studying for my induction it was time to enjoy the Great Outdoors with the children so hubby suggested a bike ride.
We're short of cycle paths around here except for Marriott's Way, which we expected to be rather muddy after the recent downpours but it wasn't too bad.
As you can see, Charlie was appropriately dressed for a muddy bike ride! He was well chuffed to receive lots of compliments from people we met along the way.
Harry was rather smug about me having to do all of the hard work.
We cycled towards Norwich and encountered some lovely views with farmland, water meadows, woodland and the river, although the closer we got to Norwich it became more industrial and not so scenic!
The children couldn't believe that we were cycling over where the trains used to run and loved the old iron bridges.
Throughout the journey we came across sculptures made from recycled iron, rails and flywheels. Charlie and I loved this giant zip and he tried his best to get it zipped up!
We cycled as far as we were comfortable with and stopped off at Lidl for drinks and then turned back home. Shortly afterwards me & hubby started to feel the burn and my goodness the trip back was tough. After collapsing on the sofa I worked out how far we had cycled….11 miles!!!
As tiring as it was though, it was lovely to get out in the fresh air and have some quality time with the children.
