I wondered what we could do to liven things up a bit instead of just sitting with our feet in the water so I suggested a treasure hunt.
I gathered together toys that wouldn't get damaged getting wet; lego, duplo, kitchen accessories & food, clean yoghurt pots, toy figures etc and made a list of what was going in. We then filled the pool with water and bubble bath so that almost everything was covered up and then we worked our way through the list of things to find.
They had a great time splashing about and the activity managed to last about an hour, which was much longer than I expected. We made it a bit easier by leaving the things found out of the pool but you could put them back in (making sure they're ticked off the list).
They each had a different technique for finding things and I was very impressed with Charlie's idea of imagining what each item would feel like while searching. Luckily the ratio of things found by each child was fairly even so there were no arguments!
What activities have you done with the children to cool off during the heatwave?
Looks great fun. We've yet to have our padding pool out. Will give this a go when we do x
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this article, and found it quite informative. And especially the part about the popularity of the Paddling Pools. Thanks for sharing! I generally prefer Paddling Pools to Paddling Pools and would recommend it to all.
