Christmas Craft with Yellow Moon

Our recent bundle of crafting goodies from Yellow Moon were a festive delight. The children couldn't wait to get creative and when all three were off school (poorly but bored!) we got busy.

Yellow Moon supplied us with;
Iridescent White Glitter
Glitter Snowflake Stick-On Stones
Polystyrene Snowflakes
Metallic Acrylic Deco Pens
Glitter Glue Pens
Gold and Silver Self-adhesive Bows

The children each started with canvas block which I'd bought from a craft store. They decorated them with glitter glue, snowflake stick-on stones and the bows. Molly and Charlie chose a design and drew on the canvas with pencil , making it easier to 'draw' with the glitter glue. Harry also added the snowflake stones and bows. I think they'll look great on the mantelpiece this Christmas!

We used the iridescent glitter to decorate wooden hearts, cardboard would work just as well, and then we attached ribbons, bows and buttons to make hanging decorations for the tree. I loved the effect from the glitter.

Molly also used the metallic deco pens to decorate a heart for her tree and Charlie covered one of the polystyrene snowflakes in glitter glue and added ribbon. Harry used glitter and a snowflake to decorate a Christmas card.

Lastly, the children took it in turns to decorate a ceramic bowl for Santa's Christmas Eve snack. The photo really doesn't do the pens justice. One hint with the deco pens: make sure it's dry before touching! I should have known better than to leave it with Harry. The deco pens also work on glass and when we can find a plain glass the children want to decorate it for Santa's glass of milk.
