Research from America* has shown that men with sisters are less inclined to do housework because the girls in the family tend to help more around the house. What decade are we in?!
My boys help with housework just as much as my daughter. In fact, Charlie was far more domesticated that Molly ever was as a toddler. He loved vacuuming and dusting and so does Harry. Molly, until recently, used to make a big fuss about helping around the house but now she sees having the responsibility of chores as meaning she's more grown up (lucky for me!)
Hubby (who has one sister) does his fair share. He works full time, I'm at home every day so he does what is asked of him as & when but he also washes up more than I, cooks 2-3 meals a week and does all the ironing.
My ex grew up with 2 sisters and 5 brothers but he did most of the housework and was happy to do so.
I have not known any man, with a sister, to shirk his household duties.
I expect my boys to know that they need to share chores with their sister, partner or wife, regardless of whether they have a sister or not.
Have any of you experienced what the research suggests?
