Mousehold Heath

Busy family life has taken over lately, especially with Charlie's panto preparations, and it seems like we've had little time to get out and about in the fresh air so on Sunday we wrapped up, got the wellies out and went to explore Mousehold Heath in Norwich.

Mousehold Heath consists of just heathland and woodland but it's a great place for the children to explore. Instead of being stuck in front of the tv or games console it encouraged them to play with what nature gave them and use their imaginations so they ran, they climbed, they collected twigs and used them as walking sticks and guns, they teetered over the edge of steep dips and even ran down some of them (when I wasn't watching!)

The children were absolutely filthy by the end of the afternoon but they thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great to get outside and back to basic play. We really need to make the effort more often.

This post is linked up with Country Kids. Take a look to see what else has been happening in the great outdoors this week!

  1. Sounds like a much needed blast of fresh air, nature and imagination for you all. Some lovely photos including, a great shooting pose in the last one. Looks like those trees are perfect for climbing too. Well done for making the time to get out, it can be so easy to take the easy option indoors but always worth the effort when you return home refreshed with rosy cheeks.
