Simple Pleasures

My children and hubby often wonder why it takes me so long to get ready at the weekend. I shower and blow dry my hair but it's not long or thick so it shouldn't take as long as it does but I do take my time.

This morning I realised why.

Same routine as normal…get the children up, get their breakfast and mine, they dress while I have a shower and wash my hair, they're in the bathroom and then we're out the door. I sat on my bed drying my hair and had to stop because Harry was in the ensuite brushing his teeth and wanted his toothpaste put on and then he started talking to me. I started up again and then Charlie came in to have a moan about Molly so I dealt with that. I switched the hairdryer on and then Molly came up to moan about the boys. That problem was sorted so I started again and a minute later  all three children came in to complain about each other. You can see what's happening here…..

I think I turned the hairdryer off at least 6 times this morning. No wonder I never feel as though I've managed to get my hair dry on a school morning so on a weekend when they're downstairs with their Dad I take my time, enjoying every blissful quiet, uninterrupted minute. It doesn't mean my hair looks any better on a weekend but at least I get a little bit of peace!

I used to be able to lock myself in the bathroom for a break but we have no locks on the bathroom doors in this house so I can't hide away and I no longer have my craft room.

What do you do for a few minutes peace and quiet from the children (or hubby!)?
