Project 366 6th February 2016

Hayley was born two days after me and our Mums were in adjacent beds in the maternity ward. A few years later they moved to our village and me & Hayley became best friends-calling ourselves 'Twisters' as we believed we were like twin sisters! I was devastated when she moved away when we were 12 and although we kept in touch by letter we gradually lost touch.

Approaching my 30th birthday I decided to try and track her down and wrote to her parents' house in the hope they still lived there. I was delighted when they passed my letter on to her and we had a long catch up on the phone. She came to my wedding in 2006 and we caught up again when we moved to Norwich.

Now we're both 40 this week and her Mum organised a small surprise party for her on Saturday and I was honoured to be invited. I caught up with people I hadn't seen in years, including her brother. It was really lovely.

Her cake, modelled upon her Reiki drum, was amazing, particularly the 'firework'!
