One of my favourite buildings in Norwich
En route to the gardens via the Cathedral and Edith Cavell's newly restored grave
Entry was just £3 per adult and children were free. The main lawn had a range of stalls and games for the children and a small arena where a local musician played and a gymnastics group performed.
Hubby sat down and rested his poorly back while me & the children wandered around the various gardens and stalls. Once we'd covered the gardens we both sat under the shade of the massive London Plane tree (2nd largest in Norfolk if you're interested!) while the children took part in the fun games. The atmosphere reminded me very much of the church fetes I used to attend and loved as a child.
"I want to be something scary"
The gardens were absolutely beautiful. The smell as we walked through the rose garden was so intoxicating.
Lost in the labyrinth
It's a gorgeous place to while away the hours and it's hard to believe that you're in a busy city centre. If you're in Norwich on one of the Open Days I can thoroughly recommend a visit.
What a lovely event. We love the Bishop's Palace/Gardens in Wells. Hadn't thought about other cathedrals having their own gardens. I wonder how many more are open to the public.
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed to have missed this open day as we are local, I'll have to see when the next open day is schedule for #countrykids
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely hidden Gen you have uncovered here and well worth the small entrance fee. It does look just like a village green fate and the games remind me of my childhood too. In fact it reminds me that I need to do stilt making as one of our activity hour sessions this year. Your photos are gorgeous and I love the wild garden at the end.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids
It looks absolutely beautiful, and what fun games for the kids. Love the bug hotel too :) A great place to spend the day, I love the looks of that bench at the end! #countrykids

ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photos! I will definitely have to try and plan my next visit to Norwich around an open day! #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place to visit - love all the pretty flowers in the garden and that jungle garden looks like a fun place to explore. Love the scary facepaint as well - looks like a fun day was had by all! :-) #CountryKids
