Project 366 23rd-31st August 2016

We went to visit my Dad in Suffolk for the day and seeing Grandad in his care home we went for lunch with my Auntie and then we headed to Kessingland for an ice cream on the seafront. The ice cream was huge but he managed every single mouthful!

Another hot day was forecast so we went to Waterloo Splash Park
again. It was absolutely heaving but Molly and I managed to find a spot in the shade while the boys got wet and cooled off.

We spent the afternoon at Norwich Airport waiting for the Red Arrows to come in and we saw my cousin who is one of the Blues. We waited a little while for the boys to get a pilot's autograph but then went home instead of waiting for them to take off for Clacton airshow as our legs ached so much from standing for hours. We knew we were going back to see them again the next day as my cousin was getting us clearance to go into the airport. Just after 5pm we heard the roar of jets and ran outside to see the Reds circling over our house. The boys were whooping with excitement and the neighbours must've wondered what was going on!

Probably the boys' highlight of the holiday-sitting on a Red Arrow. They've been this close before but were over the moon when a couple of Blues lifted them up on to the wing. We watched them take off for the second day of the airshow and then we hung around the VIP waiting room until they returned back to Norwich and gave us a brief display before landing. Even though we'd done it last year it was still an awesome afternoon.

We were looking for somewhere different to go so I suggested Happisburgh. At the end of a really lovely walk along the sand Molly wanted a photo taken of her 'holding' the lighthouse. The battery on my camera was about to die so we had to do it in a hurry but it wasn't too bad a shot!

We loved watching the Norwich duck race last year and when Charlie discovered that there was a Dad's Army duck (Quacktain Mainwaring) we knew we had to go along to support it. Sadly it didn't win but it was fun to watch.

This is what summer is all about for me. Leisurely walks along the beach, occasionally dipping our toes in the water with a bit of beachcombing on the way.

We met my Mum and her partner in Great Yarmouth for a day at the Pleasure Beach. Harry was feeling rather brave and went on the log flume and the rollercoaster. Although he is well over the minimum height requirement I still felt he was too small but he loved the rides and went on them a number of times! Molly and Charlie also conquered Evolution, a ride which goes upside down. Molly looked rather sick after her first ride but still went on another 2 times.

We had planned to go to a beach today but Charlie had a headache brewing so I suggested Holt Country Park as I knew there would be plenty of shade for him. For the first time we encountered some wild ponies who came up really close to us. They were really lovely to watch as they walked up the path ahead of us.
