Character Options Magic Dip Starter Kit review

Molly loves doing tie dye but I find it rather time consuming and quite messy so I was intrigued to hear of Character Options Magic Dip kit and wanted to test out their claim of 'If you can dip it, you can colour it'.

The starter kit has 4 paints, glitter, glossy fixing spray, tweezers, stirrer, glove, instruction booklet, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s cases, greetings cards and sticky gems to add a bit of bling.

The instructions are really easy to follow and Molly could have done it all by herself but we all joined in.

Room temperature water is needed so we left a bowl of water out all day to achieve the right temperature. Then after you have put the glove on (I would advise an apron or old clothing too) choose 3 or 4 colours and quickly put a few drops of each colour in the water before swirling them around to make a marbellised pattern. Then using the tweezers submerge the item into the water and the paint will settle onto it. After taking it out and giving it a little shake add glitter if you wish and spray it with the glossy finishing spray. Leave to dry.

The process needs to be done fairly speedily so that the paints don't 'dry' on the surface of the water.

The children loved the designs and were soon rushing around the house trying to find as many items as possible to dip!

We dipped wood, plastic, fabric, card, paper mache animals and they all worked equally well.

Plain canvas gift bags are quickly brightened up with a dip in the paint.

We found that the glossy spray wasn't needed for fabric items.

Harry bought this paper mache teddy bear about 2 years ago but didn't want to decorate it with decopatch paper as it was too fiddly for him but popping it into the Magic Dip paint was simple and quick and he loved the effect.

Using a scrap of material from my craft stash and a canvas bag bought from a pound store Molly created a funky new bag for herself. The possibilities for magic dipping are endless!

Also available is the Magic Dip Design Art Centre which has extra paint, a great unit for holding everything and two bowls along with extra accessories to dip.

We were all really impressed with the kit and the ease of use. The whole process was very quick and only a little messy but if we got paint on our fingers it soon washed off. Each design is unique-even with just 4 colours-and there's so much that can be dipped that you can have hours of fun seeing what you can create.

This would make a great present for anyone who loves designing and crafting.

The starter kit RRP is £9.99 and the design centre has an RRP of £29.99

*We were sent the product FOC for the purposes of this review. All opinion is honest and based upon our own experiences.
