Sunday Strolling

At this time of year Sundays are really busy for us as there's Charlie's football matches, roast dinners to cook, baking for packed lunches, uniforms to sort, packed lunches to make etc etc etc. It was local derby day today and Charlie's match started early so that people could get to Carrow Road for the match. After an early roast lunch we wanted to get out for a walk and I suggested one of the local fields so that the children could see the new Marriott's Way bridge in place and see how much the view has changed since we walked there last summer.

It's nothing to be excited about, in fact it's devastating to see so much of the countryside being torn up for a road that very few people actually want. It also means that there will be a lot of new housing filling in the gaps and the field we walked around is rumoured to be up for sale with planning permission for housing. It's saddening.

For a change I let the children take it in turns with my camera. I'm always the one behind the lens but I wanted to see life from their eyes for once. They were really patient and didn't argue once over the camera. It helped that in between turns they were playing chase with each other. Getting outdoors more frequently has helped their attitudes and patience towards each other immensely.

Oops. Harry forgot to move his finger!

Dad in the distance. He waits for no-one!

Harry loved the thick cloud.

Climbing trees...even if they're laying down on the ground. Slight safer from Mummy's point of view!

Shy Molly.

The new Marriott's Way 'green' bridge which will carry the hedgerows over the NDR shielding the path from the road and maintaining a foraging route for bats.

Shame to not see something growing in this field as we have in previous years.

Storm Doris appears to have been having fun.

On your marks, get set, go!

Who needs a lawnmower with Harry around?!

Muddy puddles were Harry's favourite thing to photograph.

Harry photobombing Charlie's selfie.

Charlie was trying to take a shot of an interesting tree here but his sis decided to get in on the act.

The boys thought this was a sock so they were disappointed to find out that it was a lost glove.

Harry found this post fascinating for some reason.

Molly spotted these beauties on the way home.

More boots....

"I'm going to shoot you" Why do sticks always become guns?

I let the children just click away and we thoroughly enjoyed looking through the photos when we got home. I will have to let them have the camera more often.

We were only out for an hour but it was great to get outdoors, especially as the weather can be so changeable at the moment. I still can't believe that I can walk for miles without pain so I'm cherishing every opportunity to get out in the fresh air and walk.

  3. I can totally understand when you say the kids have more patients with each other after being outdoors. I find mine are just the same. They need a little time to burn off some energy without the confines of the house walls. Lucky you have some lovely open countryside around you and what fun to leave the kids in charge of the camera, I'm so impressed they didn't argue over it either. Sounds like your hip has come on in leaps and bounds making these country walks a delight.

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

  4. Sticks always become lightsabers for my girls - but then they are Star Wars fans and I was just the same at their age!!

  5. What a great idea, Monkey does try to borrow my camera on occasion but I'm always worried he will drop it or something so I don't really let him. But I'm thinking I should after seeing all these great photos. What lovely memories. Stopping by from #CountryKids
