Jakks Spynet Gadgets *review*

We were sent the Jakks SpyNet Eyeclops TV Microscope and the SpyNet Touch Video Watch to review a few weeks ago and we've all had great fun experimenting with them.

The Eyeclops TV Microscope is linked up easily through your TV auxiliary input and the power unit needs 5 AA batteries.

Once connected switch it on, set the focusing gauge and place the handheld IRIS unit onto any large item and twist the gauge to focus and see your object magnified 200x on your tv screen. For smaller items eg. glitter, sand, soil,  there's a viewing dish and a viewing tube, which screws securely onto the IRIS unit. A plastic stand is supplied to hold the unit when using with the dishes.

The children went running around the house in competition to see who could find the most interesting thing to magnify!

Skin (it was much clearer than my blurry photo shows)

Bath sponge

£5 note

Top Trump card

Molly's hair

Pom pom

Cardigan

Wool

Glitter

It's a fascinating piece of equipment and proved a lot of fun. The children couldn't resist setting it up and wowing any visitors we had over Christmas. They did get a bit gross though when they started magnifying scabs, nostrils and dirty ears!!

The instruction sheet includes some ideas of what to magnify in case you get stuck but the possibilities really are endless.

The Touch Video Watch is a great little piece of spy equipment for any child that likes to pretend to be James Bond. It's worthy of Q's magnificent gadgets. Withe the video mode you can record and playback approximately 20 minutes of video. There's storage for up to 2000 photos and up to 3 hours of audio. Video, photos and audio can be downloaded to a computer via USB port (connector supplied) and it charges via the same USB connector.

When plugged into a computer the watch will be recognised as a removable drive so you can simply move or copy files between the watch and your computer. No apps need to be downloaded.

As well as the recording and playback options there is a lie detector mode, bug scanner and two games.

This photo was taken in the conservatory at night with poor lighting so we were surprised at how clear the photo was.

It's easy to take photos, audio and video on the quiet and the children have enjoyed being sneaky and catching us out!

It's simple to use and the touch screen is a really good size so even my fat clumsy fingers can use it. The screen is really clear too and I like that the home screen also shows a memory meter and battery indicator. The children have used it regularly over the last 3 weeks or so and the battery has lasted well and hasn't needed charging yet. The sound on the video playback is a little quiet but better to hear once uploaded to my laptop.

Both items would be great for any budding 007 age 6+ and there are a range of other products in the SpyNet range. Check out SpyNet HQ

SpyNet can be found in all good toy stores.
